Sue Haverstock and a group of friends, every Monday night, rain or shine, provide a hot meal to anyone who needs it underneath the bridge in downtown Harrisburg.

Sue said during the COVID days and through some of the rough winter Mondays, it hasn’t been easy.

“We have been here every single Monday since we began in 2017,” says Sue. “It hasn’t been easy but it’s a great experience. We have a great team that makes it happen and it’s been a really neat experience for all of us.”

What’s with the name? It comes from the Bible. Thousands of years ago, the Apostle Paul wrote a letter to the Saints in Galatia. In the letter, found in our modern Bible in Galatians 2:10, he wrote, “And they would that we should remember the poor;”

I found out about G2:10 from my friend, Lanette, who works with Sue. Lanette said, “Hey, there’s a group of people that make food for people every Monday and take it to downtown Harrisburg and serve it to people under the bridge. Wanna do it?” Of course I did!

Upon writing this article, I’ve only been part of the G2:10 team once, but now that I think of it, it’s time to join them again!

You can help G2:10 in several ways, like serving the food, prepping the food, helping with set up or take down, or donating money.

Give them a shout if you’d like to be on the front line of helping those in need.
