Chris Drexler. If you’ve met her, you remember her. I first met her circa 2015 on a 4th grade field trip, probably right around the time she was starting Cocoa Packs. But at the time, I didn’t know anything about that. I just thought she was an assertive gal having a bunch of fun with the students.

Cocoa Packs is a weekly program providing food and other assistance, with love and care, to enhance the physical and emotional wellness of children from birth through age 18. School based programs are able to provide subsidized nutritious meals during the school day, however this leaves a gap on the weekends, over the holidays and in the summer. Cocoa Packs aims to fill that gap.

Chris choked up about 10 times as I interviewed her, telling me about the amazing people she’s met, people who’ve helped with this cause. And the kids. She’s pretty passionate about helping kids feel loved and accepted. She’s been there, she says.

Chris grew up in a big family with not a lot of money. She says she’s worked since she was 9 years old. It’s part of her DNA and I see that; how else could anyone have accomplished what she and her team have brought to pass in less than 10 years. Food, clothing, and so much more for so many in our township and community. Go, Chris! And thanks.
