My friends, Ali and Chris, who live in the Hummelstown Borough, rave about Chocolates by Tina Marie. They go there like every week. I’ve been wanting to check them out for a long time.

Do you ever meet someone that you just feel like you already know? That’s how I felt when I talked with and got to know Tina Olaf-Lerch.

She became an entrepreneur because, basically, she was a kick butt corporate admin and sales person who would develop departments to a certain paint then get “downsized.” She said it happened several times and finally she was like, why am I doing this?

She and her husband, Ed, started out at the Farmstead Farmers Market on 743 (I need to go there!) in 2007. Their first product was peanut butter melt away, made “by mistake” one day when Tina was helping out with sweets for a corporate work function. The meltaways continue to be one of their signature candies and best sellers.

But, get this! They just won a major award at a regional candy show for their espresso caramels! And in so doing, got a front page write up in The Sun. Pretty cool. If you see Marie around town, pretty sure she’ll be wearing lavender or purple of some sort. She’s a “type A” with a big laugh and smile and you’ll love her instantly. Like I did.
