The Chocolate Avenue Grill is just down the street from me. My neighbor, Jan, and I cannot get enough of their Pittsburgh steak salad. This salad is served with grilled to order chunks of steak on a bed of greens and fresh veggies AND, get this, French fries sprinkled with cheddar cheese. The cheese melts a bit from the heat of the fries and steak and the whole thing is just a culinary delight. I think it’s my favorite meal in Hershey. Jan–I don’t know why and I really need to talk some sense into this lady–gets her fries on the side. Dude, you are missing the boat here! This dish is not the same without those hot fries on top.

Jess and Tim Demopoulos owned The Grill for many years and recently sold. I don’t know the new owners. The two parties conducted the sale without a lot of fan fare; they thought it best to just keep on keeping on; if it ain’t broke type-of-thing.

Chocolate Avenue Grill, along with Fenicci’s, anchors the south side of the 100 block of Chocolate Avenue, which is full of local, one-off concepts. A few years ago, when everything on the north side of the street was being built, the Demopoulos’ invested in their place, too, increasing the outdoor setting and making other improvements. In my opinion, keeping up with the growth on the other side of the street paid off big; the place looks gorgeous. Add these esthetics to the great food and service, and you, my friends, have a real winner.
