Jules Elia graduated high school in 2019 and started college. All was fine at first, but then COVID 19 hit and he put college on hold. Jules came to work with his mom, owner of Cafe Fresco, and found he really loved it, especially making the customers happy and participating in culinary creations.

I had been to their old location on Paxton Street several years ago and we always impressed with the food. They opened the new location on Linglestown Road in February 2023 with the same awesome attention to excellence.

I had the grilled chicken avocado sandwich with homemade herb mayo sauce on a roll from Liscio’s Bakery in Philly, a caesar salad and peanut butter cheesecake. I can’t tell you, of these three things, which was best because they were all outstanding. I guess if you’re making me choose, I’ll say the cheesecake, although that caesar salad was probably the best I’ve ever had. But when you’re comparing salad to cheesecake, I mean really, what’s going to win?

Cafe Fresco is a family affair; Meg and all of the children have worked here. They have become experts in creating one of a kind, homemade sauces. In fact, all of the toppings and sources are made in house.

They get their bread from Liscio's Italian bakery 3x a week from Philly and make their pizza dough here. The caesar and mayos are all made on site. Best freakin caesar salad I’ve ever had. The cakes come from a bakery in Lancaster and the cookies and brownies are made in house. You will come here for the pb cheesecake. It’s incredible with a whip cream consistency on top with the most amazing peanut butter cheesecake filling. Literally to die for.

One customer, Annie, who comes in nearly every day was in the lobby when I visited.

"Megan did something most people never could," says Annie. "During an extremely difficult personal time, she put everything into the restaurant and worked her tail off to make it work and it does work tremendously well because of the combination of incredible service and incredible food."
